OMAHA, Neb. — March 3, 2026 —Corkscrew Wine & Cheese is celebrating 20 years of service in April. With a wine bar and retail wine shop under one roof, Corkscrew was unique when it opened in April 2006 in Rockbrook Village. “We had this idea for a third space, something like a coffee shop where you could have a glass of wine while you could gather and socialize,” said owner Corey Keith. He and his wife Anne opened the business he called “Starbucks meets wine” after returning to Omaha from the DC metro, where they loved frequenting spots that inspired this vision and wanted to bring something similar to Omaha.
The shop, still in its original location, originally featured a cheese counter with a small tasting bar, and most of the footprint was devoted to retail wine. Today, the space leans into the wine bar, featuring 20+ wines by the glass, a limited bar selection, and a more robust menu with thoughtful cheese and charcuterie pairings and other light bites.
That growth led to multiple expansions, including an enlarged patio and the recent addition of the “Alco-Hall” patio, connecting Corkscrew to its sister concept, Public House, which opened in 2020. In 2015, Corey partnered with his sister Jessica to open a second Corkscrew location in Blackstone. Today, the family-run business operates three locations, with hands-on involvement from Corey, Jessica, and the next generation of the Keith family.
“What makes me proud is the social nature of what we do. Corkscrew has an effect on many people's lives. We’ve seen first dates that turned into wedding anniversaries, connections at the bar that became business deals,” Keith said, “The nature of the business is that things change over time. We get to meet people where they are and share a bottle of wine with them.”
