A passion for wine that turned into a way of life

Corkscrew Wine and Cheese was established by the Keith family in 2005 and opened its doors in 2006.

Corey Keith grew up in Omaha and left Nebraska for college in Indiana and ended up in the Washington, DC/Northern Virginia area upon graduation.

Living on the east coast exposed us to great local wine merchants, cheese shops, and wine bars. Even the local Virginia winery scene shares some of the same struggles and succcesses as local Nebraska wineries.

In 2005 had a few independent wine merchants. We wanted to bring the two concepts of a wine shop and wine bar under one roof. You could take the multipage business plan and distill it down into three words: Starbucks meets wine. At Corkscrew we want to create that third place outside of home and work where you live your life and have a social experience.
